Have you already broken your New Year’s resolution?  If so, you’re not alone.  Eighty percent of resolutions are abandoned by mid February every year, according to US News and World Report.  So why not forget about New Year’s resolutions, and instead focus on a personal word of the year.

The beginning of the year is a great time to think about goals – both personal and career related – and choosing a word to describe how you will achieve that goal can be more beneficial than making a resolution.  Instead of the guilt that is usually associated with a broken resolution, a word of the year can support you through the daily trials in the year ahead, while still keeping you focused on your goal.  Because… can’t we all use a little less guilt in our lives?

And so, my word of the year for 2019 is persistence.
