Lookups on Merriam-Webster for crosshair spiked 17,500% on February 18, 2019 after Roger Stone posted an image on his Instagram that included a crosshair next to the head of the judge who is presiding over his current criminal case.
The post was viewed by many as a threat or incitement of violence against the judge. After receiving widespread criticism for the post, Stone removed the picture and reposted it without the crosshair.
Was it a threat, or just Stone’s subconscious speaking because he is in the crosshairs of Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation? I think both.
