Searches for mendacious on Merriam-Webster spiked by 3,300% on March 19, 2019 after George Conway used the term to refer to President Trump. Conway, prominent conservative attorney and husband to Trump senior adviser Kellyanne Conway, has been using his Twitter account to call out what he considers to be inappropriate behavior on the part of the President.
Conway’s subsequent sharing of the diagnostic criteria of Narcissistic Personality Disorder and his armchair diagnosis of Trump as having said disorder apparently hit a little too close to home – Trump responded via twitter calling Conway “A total loser!” When asked about her husband’s tweets and Trump’s responses thereto, Kellyanne Conway defended her… President.
