As a word nerd or logophile ( logo·​phile \ ˈlȯ-gə-ˌfī(-ə)l, ˈlä-\lover of words), I always look forward to the word-of-the-year lists published by the various online dictionaries – I actually opened my blog last year with Merriam-Webster’s 2017 list.  I love these lists because they have a unique way of capturing cultural moments in society.  Instead of waiting til the end of the year to compile a list, I’m going to use this space to highlight words on a weekly basis that have captured the nation’s attention based on current events.  And with that…
